Though the time taken to reach the airport in Goa and Mumbai remains almost the same, the taxi fares from the airport in Goa remain extremely high. In Mumbai, for a 40 minute ride by rickshaw will cost Rs 199 ,taxi Rs 400. On the other hand, for almost the same distance ,in goa the taxi fare has been increased to Rs 870 making it extremely expensive to travel from the airport to any place in goa, especially panaji, north goa.
A passenger from Nerul in Navi Mumbai was saying that on 17 July 2016, an Uber cab had only charged him Rs 320 to travel from Nerul to Santa Cruz airport which must be a distance of at least 55 km.

Some private operators are charging less at Rs 800 or Rs 750 though fuel prices have declined to a large extent in the last few years. Many of the airlines are charging Rs 1500 for a flight from Mumbai to Goa , yet a trip to the dabolim airport and back to panaji can cost more than a trip to Mumbai due to the high taxi rates in goa
